Good practices for staying focused!

Do you often zone out while practicing, or maybe find yourself daydreaming when you should be focusing? The Resource theory says that this is because we run out of “cognitive fuel in the tank”. The solution is simple, take a break! Noa Kageyama from Bulletproof Musician says he doesn’t know of a study that demonstrates the best practice to rest ratio, but he does have some information from DeskTime (a time tracking app), that shows the most productive workers actually use about 52 minutes of productivity, with 17 minutes of rest. Although the ratio is a bit odd, “the important part is probably not the exact ratio itself, but the fact that the most productive folks took meaningful breaks between periods of intense goal “sprints,” instead of trying to slog through a single marathon work session with minimal breaks.”
