Hans Christian Andersen wrote that “When words fail, music speaks.” Our words cannot fail us now. At Mobile Music Lessons, we stand against systemic racism and we stand for justice. We stand in solidarity with our black community, whose voices have been silenced and whose lives have been stolen.
We will raise our voice at Mobile Music Lessons to inspire and educate about inclusion and diversity. It is our differences that make us who we are, and we celebrate them. As Doug Floyd stated, “You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same note.”
To this end, we are providing resources to our faculty including repertoire ideas by Black composers and educational articles to help us remain an inclusive musical community of excellence as we educate our students. We will keep this dialogue open as we continue to grow and evolve.
